Welcome! The One Mans Mountain website is currently unavailable. I will be keeping my journal entries here until the site becomes active again.
September 4th.Photography.
Back in January I was awarded a grant from the arts council. The grant has given me the opportunity to have one to one photographic mentoring from Jerry Lebens. Jerry is an Ilford Master and writes for Black and White Photography Magazine.
I often travel to Jerry's home town-Brighton-where Jerry spends a day sharing his vast knowledge and skills with me. Since working with Jerry, I feel I have become a more competent photographer and have learnt much in the valuable time we have spent together. I have learnt how much I do not know about photography!!!
Many basic errors I had been making as an untrained photographer, such as correct understanding of exposure, have now been rectified with careful explanation and great tuition from Jerry and plenty of experimenting with my Nikon D300.
So, now that I have spent some considerable time with jerry, I am really looking forward to taking some potentially great shots whilst in Nepal this October and hopefully a near perfect exposure should be captured with each click of the button.
I will be in Kathmandu for three days before I fly to Lukla to begin my climb on Mera Peak and will be visiting the Buddhist Monasteries, the Holy Bagmati River (cremations), The Great Stupa and can not wait to see the outcome of the images I hope to capture.
You can follow Jerry's tips about exposure in the latest issue of Black and White Photography Magazine. To contact Jerry directly, please telephone 01273 604495 or email jerry@photo-media.org.
Jerry Lebens is an Ilford Master, an expert in all things photographic, from lighting to landscape and provides individual tailored courses in all aspects of traditional and digital photography.
Take care!
