Jurassic Coast Dorset.
Photographs by Stuart Baker-Brown.
The Dorset and East Devon coast is now known as the Jurassic Coast. It has been internationally recognised for its geological importance and has been given World Heritage Status. The coastline is renowned for its geological features and major fossil sites. The award puts the Dorset coastline on a par with the Grand Canyon and the Great Barrier Reef.
Walking along the coast, you can experience the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods of geological time and discover what would once have been ancient red deserts, shallow tropical seas and dinosaur infested swamps!
